Before your session
When you book with me, I'll ask what type of massage you're looking for and whether you have any areas of tension or anything you'd like me to avoid. It's helpful to let me know about any injuries, health conditions or sensitivities beforehand. You don't need to provide a lot of detail — even a quick message like "I have tight shoulders and lower back pain" is helpful.
On the day, wear comfortable, loose clothing. Avoid eating a heavy meal within an hour of your session. If you're coming to me for an in-call appointment, just let me know when you've arrived and I'll be ready for you.
At the start of the session
Before we start, I'll have a brief chat to understand how you're feeling and what you'd like to focus on. This only takes a couple of minutes — I just want to make sure the session is as useful as possible for you.
You'll then have a moment of privacy to undress to your comfort level. Most people undress to their underwear for a full-body massage, but you should only go to the level you feel comfortable with. You'll be covered with warm towels throughout — only the area being worked on will ever be uncovered.
During the massage
Lie down on the table and just let yourself relax. You don't need to do anything — I'll guide you if I need you to move. Feel free to close your eyes and drift off. Many people fall asleep, which is absolutely fine and a sign the massage is working.
If the pressure is too much or too light at any point, please tell me. There's no awkwardness in asking for adjustments — it's your session and I want it to feel exactly right for you.
After your session
When the session ends, I'll give you a moment to come back to yourself before getting up slowly. It's normal to feel a little dreamy or "floaty" afterwards — your nervous system has genuinely shifted into a calmer state.
Drink plenty of water for the rest of the day. Avoid alcohol and intense exercise. If you had a deep tissue massage, you might feel some mild achiness for 24–48 hours — like the day after a good workout. This is completely normal and will pass.
