Swedish Massage in Birmingham
A classic, gentle full-body treatment to ease tension, improve circulation and leave you feeling completely relaxed. Available in-call and out-call across Birmingham — from £80 per session.
What is Swedish Massage?
Swedish massage is one of the most popular and well-known massage techniques in the world, and for good reason. It uses a combination of long, gliding strokes (effleurage), kneading movements (petrissage), rhythmic tapping (tapotement) and circular pressure to work the superficial layers of muscle and improve overall circulation.
It's the perfect treatment if you're feeling stressed, tired or tense — and it's also a brilliant starting point if you've never had a professional massage before. I always tailor the pressure to what feels right for you, so if you prefer it lighter or firmer, just let me know before we start.
```What are the benefits of Swedish Massage?
Swedish massage does far more than just help you relax in the moment. Regular sessions can have a real, lasting impact on both your physical and mental wellbeing:
- Reduces stress and anxiety — massage lowers cortisol levels and triggers the release of serotonin and dopamine, leaving you feeling calmer and more balanced
- Relieves muscle tension — perfect if you carry tightness in your neck, shoulders or back from sitting at a desk or long working hours
- Improves blood circulation — the flowing strokes encourage blood flow and help flush out metabolic waste from tired muscles
- Promotes better sleep — many of my clients report sleeping noticeably better after a session
- Boosts your mood — the endorphin release from massage can lift your mood for hours or even days afterwards
- Eases minor aches and pains — Swedish massage works on the soft tissue and can relieve everyday tension-related discomfort
What to expect in your session
Before we start, I'll have a quick chat about how you're feeling, any areas you'd like me to focus on, and whether there's anything I should be aware of. There's no pressure — just let me know what you need.
You'll be asked to lie on the massage table (I'll provide a comfortable, professional setup whether you're visiting me or I'm coming to you). I use a warm oil or lotion suitable for your skin type and work through the full body at a pace that feels good for you. Most clients drift into a deeply relaxed state — some fall asleep entirely, which is completely fine!
After the session, I'd recommend drinking plenty of water and taking it easy for the rest of the day to get the most out of the treatment.
How long should my Swedish massage be?
A 60-minute session covers the full body thoroughly and is the most popular option. If you'd like extra time on specific areas — like the back, legs and feet — or want to include a scalp massage, I'd suggest 90 minutes. For a completely thorough, unhurried treatment from head to toe, 120 minutes is ideal.
